Another beautiful fiord and harbour. The landscape here reminds us of Muskoka, similar rocks, lots of islands, wooden houses with docks and boathouses built on the rocks close to the water.

Sharon, Maureen and I went on a tour of the old part of town and then to a private island for a lunch of locally caught coal fish and wolf fish. The town dates back to1070. It was part of the Hanseatic League for about 400 years and still exports fish mainly to Europe. Now a major export is oil and gas. Norway is the 4th largest producer of oil and gas in the world. This guide said that 60% of the Government income is from oil and gas.

Still a very active port. Gary went on a 4 hour hike up one of the local mountains so the pictures are from his hike. He also visited the fish market and parts of the town.
